Consider Design And Function When Purchasing Your Wooden Garden BenchA back yard is incomplete without some type of garden seating and a wooden garden bench is a popular choice for a number of reasons. Timber is a natural material which blends in with a garden setting very well. In addition it can be left outside in all weathers and can seat more than one person at a time. There will be a wooden garden bench to suit every type of garden style.
Softwoods can also last well if they are treated with some care. At the very least this would involve keeping it clean and sealed from the elements. Softwood has a fast growth pattern and a wide cellular grain. It is therefore far more absorbent than hardwood. Water is the worst culprit for causing damage and decay and the sun and wind drying the wood out in between soakings adds to this factor. So if softwood is your choice for your garden furniture, of any type, then be prepared for a little upkeep. Hardwood grain is much finer and less prone to decay. It is also more expensive. There are so many different options with woods such as teak, oak, iroko, cedar, eucalyptus, rosewood, pine, fir etc and all sorts of styles and designs which can match existing garden, deck or patio sets or be a completely new and different feature. A wooden garden bench is so handy as it is a permanent feature. They can be situated on a veranda, under trees or next to ponds, pools or flower beds. This will provide an opportunity to spend some time outside in the yard in all seasons, where you may not have been inclined to do so before. In the summer you can take a cushion out with you to soften the bench for a longer stay. In the winter take out a blanket to keep cosy whilst you watch the fish or birds in the garden. Invest in the best and if possible. if the finances allow, buy a matching pair. Your wooden garden bench or benches will become a favourite place to stop a while to have a breath of fresh air any time of year. |

Garden benches are usually made of natural products like wood, stone or some other mixture of concrete. These materials might be freely available but are extremely bulky and thus, not very easy to carry around. The first thing you should do is to decide how much your budget is going to be. In general, as with most things, it is better to spend the most you can afford as in the end a higher budget will provide you with both a nicer bench and a much longer lived one. A better quality bench will be made from better standard wood, assembled and finished off very well indeed with no splinters or rough edges. Your quality bench will probably be pre treated and sometimes, optionally, varnished or color washed. Hardwood is the best choice as it will weather well with little to no maintenance, providing you with many years of reliable service.
